Do you have an excellent Teaching Assistant? The Van Kranendonk Award is given every year at the beginning of September to three or four graduate students who have performed particularly well as Teaching Assistants during the previous year. The awards are $50 and a certificate. All undergraduate students have an opportunity to nominate their Tutor or Demonstrator if they feel their T.A. deserves it. To nominate a T.A., students need to write a brief memo or letter addressed to Professor Statt, Associate Chair, Undergraduate, explaining why they feel the person should be recognised. Nominations can be delivered to the lecturer, laboratory coordinator, or directly to Room 301 on the third floor of the tower. The award is named after Professor Jan van Kranendonk, a physicist who is also as a master teacher. His research interests include theoretical molecular and solid state physics. He was a Professor in the Department of Physics, University of Toronto, until 1987. This page was last revised (m/d/y) on 01/13/02 Copyright © 2000 David M. Harrison |
