T'ai Chi Chuan is the
empty-hand style of T'ai Chi. There are related subjects that use weapons.
Common weapons used in T'ai Chi include the sword, saber, stick, and
fan. Experience has shown that traditional practice with weapons greatly aids
in the overall development of T'ai Chi.
Many of the movements in the weapons forms have counterparts in the empty-hand form, and as these parallels resonate in the student, a deeper understanding is attained.
The internal martial art Hsing-I is discussed in another section of this document. Just as for T'ai Chi, there are Hsing-I Chuan forms involving the empty-hand style and Hsing-I weapon forms. Hsing-I weapons include the saber and staff.
