Starting Up A Microprocessor
Laboratory Computer
- Check that both the computer and the monitor are plugged in
- Turn on the monitor with the power switch on the front
- Turn on the computer with the power switch at the front
- Wait........
- When the computer asks for a name and password remember the following
- The username is your faraday username
- The password is for this machine - can be the same or different from your
faraday username
- To move between the two panels use Tab (forward) and Shift-Tab (back)
- Use Enter to complete the operation
- If you change your password, or have never used this machine before, or we
have reloaded the software on this machine since you last logged on, the
machine will ask you for your password twice for confirmation
- For those of you "in the know": We have installed the high security patch for
passwords in Windows 95!
- You will asked for a second password - this must be your faraday password. The first
password is for the machine, the second for network access
- If at any time during your session, you appear to lose the network disks (E and F). Try
double-click on the computer faraday icon and see if the map of the resources comes up or
some other instruction
